How to Throw a Halloween Cocktail Party

When fall rolls around it kicks off the holiday season. I can't think of a better way to spend quality time with family and friends than to throw a Halloween cocktail party. These parties are fun, you get to create your guest list. You also get to plan the menu, the decorations, the activities, and whether you will require costumes are not.

I prefer to make things easy on my guests, so I usually don't require costumes. The point of the party is to get everyone together and have a good time. I don't like to create extra stress and time demands for my guests. So when guests don't have to worry about getting a costume together they can just concentrate on having a good time.

One of the most fun things for me are the decorations. I like to go all-out and decorate the house for Halloween anyway. So it really isn't that much work to put the party decorations together because the house was already decorated for Halloween.

So what I usually do is just create a festive centerpiece to go with my food and beverages. To create a festive centerpiece I usually use martini glasses I will fill them with Halloween candy such as those little black and orange pumpkins. Then I will garnish them with some sort of Halloween item such as a marshmallow skeleton on a toothpick.

This centerpiece, along with, orange and black confetti in the middle of the table, will really offset your Halloween party spread. Another great party decorating tip is lighting. You can use colored light bulbs or even black light bulbs to create that Halloween effect. If you do use black light bulbs be aware that they create a lot of heat.

My favorite party menu usually consists of all kinds of hors d'oeuvres and for Halloween I add special touches. My canapés will be in Halloween colors. There will be lots of candy and spooky snacks. I will also make a scary Halloween Punch with dry ice for that traditional smoke effect we all love.

Of course the most important part of your Halloween cocktail party are the cocktails. Just be sure to have several non alcoholic options as well. And remember to never drink and drive. I try to mix traditional cocktails along with spooky Halloween cocktails. I will have orange colored martinis and black Russians.

Although once again the most important part of your Halloween cocktail party are the guests. You can't go wrong when you're surrounded by friends and family for a festive evening of Halloween fun.
